Stored only on your device
- Lesson progress, streak, accuracy, saved sentences and your word list
- Your pet, coins and items
- Settings, podcast subscriptions and transcripts made on your device
- Your blocked-players list and guideline acceptance
Online playground (only if you use it)
- Anonymous ID created by Firebase Authentication (Google). No email, name or phone number.
- What other players see while you are in a room: nickname (or pet name), chosen flag, level, study streak, pet appearance, position and snack count. This is deleted when you leave the room.
- Voice: audio goes directly between players' devices (WebRTC); connection details are exchanged through our database and deleted right after use. We never record voice.
- Reports: if you report someone, we store the report (your anonymous ID, their anonymous ID and name, room, reason and your description) for up to 1 year to handle moderation and appeals.
- Chat: ready-made phrases are shown to players in the room like your position. Words you write to friends are passed through our database and deleted as soon as your friend's app receives them.
- Friends: your friends list, friend requests, room invites and room hearts are kept with your anonymous ID until you or your friends remove them.
- Optional account (Google or Apple): if you choose to keep your account, Firebase Authentication links your anonymous ID to that sign-in and stores the email address and provider it gives us, so the account is not deleted and can be used on another device. We don't use it to contact you. Anonymous accounts that are not kept may be deleted automatically 30 days after they were created.
- Age: we ask your birth year once and only keep whether you may use the playground, on your device.
Service providers
Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Storage, Hosting) processes the playground data and serves hanssi's own podcast episodes on our behalf. Podcast audio and artwork are loaded from the publishers' servers and Apple's podcast directory when you use those features.
Microphone
The microphone is used only when you turn on voice chat in the playground.
Children
The online playground is not available to children under 14 (the age under which Korean law requires a guardian's consent). If you believe a child under 14 has used it, contact us and we will delete the data.
Your choices and deletion
Settings → safety & privacy → delete my online data deletes your online account (including a linked Google or Apple sign-in). Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your device. You can also email us to request deletion.
